How it works
From a box on your kitchen table to money in your account. Six steps, and you can see where your cards are at every one of them.
- 01
Create a submission
Sign in with Google and give us the number of cards you are sending. That is it — but give us the real number, not a guess. Every card is counted on camera when the box lands and our count is the one that stands. The only time you need to give us more info is when you want a card run as a prebid or a regular auction instead of sudden death: those you have to list out individually, by name, so we can pull them from your box.
You get a submission ID like RB-1043 on the next screen.
- 02
Ship it to us
Write your submission ID on a slip inside the box so we can match it the moment it opens. Use a tracked service and pack the cards properly.
Until the box reaches us it is at your risk — use tracking and insure it for what it is worth.
- 03
Add your tracking
Put the carrier and tracking number on your submission. That flips it to In transit and tells us to watch for it.
- 04
We open and count on camera
Every package is opened on video and counted in. The count is recorded against your submission, and you see that count in your account. The recording itself is kept separately — it is not something you watch from your account.
Want the video of your box being opened? Email us and ask for it. We keep every recording for 90 days, then delete it.
- 05
Your cards run on a show
We slot your cards into an upcoming show and group them into lots. Every card opens at $1 with no reserve and sells to the highest bidder that night. The default format is a sudden-death auction at 15 seconds — you can name specific cards on your submission to run as prebids or as regular auctions instead. Only cards worth $100 or more can be listed for prebids; anything under that runs sudden death with the rest of the box.
Cards worth under $10.00, and damaged cards, are grouped into $1 lot boxes rather than listed on their own. Grouping also saves you money: Whatnot charges its $0.30 per-sale fee once per lot, not once per card.
- 06
You get paid
Once the show closes we record the hammer total against your submission and the fee breakdown appears in your account — every line itemised. Payment goes out within 7 business days.
